Our Liberty is Being Threatened! UKIP is the Only Party that can Save it
Liberty. It’s a concept that is celebrated, treasured and even fought for by many people. But what actually is liberty? Put simply, it is the individual freedom of every citizen – whether they be male or female, white or black, straight or gay or whatever other different type of person they may be – to do as they wish, within reason.
Several times in Britain’s great history, our liberty has been threatened, but the ordinary people – the peasants in the middle ages, the men and women of families in the 20th century, and the deprived working class today have risen up and fought. They have never had much, they were always the worst off in society, but there are an awful lot of them, and when they work together and fight for their liberty, they always win. When the Nazis from Germany tried to take over Britain, it wasn’t the big banks that won the war, it was the soldiers, the pilots and the women at home.
Now while we all think we have liberty, it is often secretly taken away from us by our political class. In recent history, this has mostly been done through an evil institution that seeks to control people’s lives in every way possible. This institution is most commonly known as the European Union. The most basic liberty of all citizens is to have a vote, and for that vote to make a difference. “Surely the EU wouldn’t harm that?” you say. Well, actually, they would and they have. Look at the Danish vote against the Maastricht Treaty. They voted to not implement the treaty, but the EU officials said ‘no, you voted wrong. You must vote again’. Now you would think that would be a one-off. Nope, it is a regular occurrence for the EU. This also happened with the Irish rejecting the Nice Treaty (which really isn’t nice), and again to the Irish in 2008! Then, in 2015, the Greeks voted against the EU’s austerity policies that were drawn up for them. But guess what, the EU imposed them anyway. And aside from directly opposing democracy, they impose taxes like the Tampon Tax without even asking the member states. This is a direct and patronising attack on women which should not be tolerated in an increasingly forward-looking nation.
But we must not let them and others get away with it. As the great Ronald Reagan once said, “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn’t pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same, or one day we will spend our sunset years telling our children and our children’s children what it was once like in the United States where men were free”. This statement applies just as well to liberty in the UK as it does to freedom in the USA, as freedom and liberty are essentially one. And that is precisely what we in UKIP have done. We fought for an EU referendum, we won it and we must now protect the result so that one day we can hand our liberty down to the next generation, knowing that they will not make the mistake of implementing uncontrolled globalisation against the will of the people.
So after reading this, don’t just close the site and forget about it. Share it, tell your friends and family, and most importantly, watch the government. They could very easily forget about the referendum, or else just join another organisation that will be much the same as the EU. We must not let this happen. So as UKIP, as the ordinary folk of our Great Britain, we must rise up and hit the establishment where it hurts, get our liberty back, and keep it.
