Another “What if it were UKIP” Situation

I sit here, yet again, looking at a range of articles detailing bad goings on at the Labour Party. I find myself scratching my head and wondering what the national media would have made of what has happened at the Labour Party the last 4 days had it been UKIP.

On Thursday the 22nd of September it was revealed by the Birmingham Mail, that the Labour Party had declined to suspend one of their councillors for blatant racism and antisemitism.

The councillor thought it would be wise to share a racist video, on his Facebook page which happened to be produced by a former leader of the Klu Klux Klan. The councillor in question assured the Labour Party that he had “no idea” how the video ended up on his Facebook page. A video both political and antisemitic in nature titled “CNN, Goldman Sachs & the Zio Matrix!” was posted on Zafar Iqbal’s official Labour councillor account, he is the councillor for Birmingham’s South Yardley ward.

The video doesn’t seem at all like it is up the street of the current mentality of the Labour Party. With a huge and growing problem of widespread antisemitism within the Labour Party, I am sure that a video that; “reveals how the Zionist Matrix of Power controls Media, Politics and Banking.” wouldn’t, of course, have any place popping up on a Labour Councillors Facebook account. It must just be a coincidence.

His West Midlands Regional Labour Party spokesperson is reported to have said: “Councillor Iqbal has apologised, we accept his explanation of what happened and we have reminded him of his responsibilities as a Labour councillor.”

So it is all okay then. Nothing to worry about. The Facebook Gremlins must have posted it to his Facebook, and he has said he is very very sorry for posting it, and so all is forgiven and forgotten.

I find myself asking what the national media reception would be had a UKIP councillor done something similar. People would be baying for blood!

We then move onto Friday the 23rd of September when it was revealed by the “National”, a Scottish publication. That one of the most senior Labour Party councillors in Scotland had been suspended after a police inquiry into claims of homophobic abuse.

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Tom McAughtrie was placed “under administrative suspension” whilst he was investigated by police officers.

The complaint in question surrounds the accusation that Mr McAughtrie had called a leading Dumfries gay rights activist and a friend of her’s“deviants”. These apparent comments were also posted via Facebook account about the chair of the local LGBT+ group and an Anglican priest in Dumfries.

The Facebook post in question read: “Thankfully you two deviants were dealt what you deserved by the people of Dumfries.”

These comments happened to have been posted at a deeply inappropriate time in the aftermath of the suicide of 15-year-old school girl who had been subjected to homophobic abuse in the town in May.

The third instance of shall we say “naughty behaviour” came on Saturday the 24th of September with the “News and Star” reporting on the calls for the Labour Party councillor for Carlisle city to be suspended or expelled as councillor, following his conviction for benefits fraud.

The councillor in question Barrie Osgood, 44, was elected to represent the city’s Castle in May 2015 local elections. Mr Osgood denied fraudulently claiming £3,500 in housing benefits, however, after a four-hour trial, Mr Osgood was convicted.

Mr Osgood’s defence? It was an “honest mistake” and the result of him suffering from mental health problems. Of course, it was. Well, the magistrates didn’t believe so either, as they rejected his claim. Not only was he claiming housing benefit for the property, he was also renting a property out.

Apparently, an easy mistake to make?

Imagine the sob story the Labour Party would have come out with had this been a UKIP councillor. We would have had claims that he or she was stealing the food out of people’s mouths, occupying a property that could have been used for a homeless person or that they were using a disability defence where no rightful defence existed?!

But hey, it’s the Labour Party. So you can expect on the National media to not report it in the slightest, and his local Newcastle branch that he is advising regional reporters to speak to will continue to be quiet on the subject, and allow the subject to fade into memory so they can retain their dodgy benefit cheats councillor!

So three dodgy councillors in three days.

My goodness, imagine the glee from the National media and newspapers had they been 2, let alone 3 UKIP councillors!

I am a 32 year old fellow from the South Coast of England. For the last 10 years i have seen the degeneration of my local area as a side effect of being a EU Member State (United Kingdom). I have also been witness over the years to the ever increasing gaps in Social Mobility as a direct result of the decisions made by our politicians in Westminster. Whilst I appreciate we as a Nation need to have ties with Europe and that the mainstream parties have a stranglehold on the support of our electorate, I do not believe this current system is best suited as a member of the European Union or maintaining what is in reality a 2 party state. For this reason I support UKIP and will post my thoughts here from time to time.
