Anna Soubry says ‘I Welcome Philip Hammond’s Five Year Brexit’
Infighting continued within the Conservative Party ranks yesterday as Anna Soubry MP (pictured above) rallied behing Chancellor Philip Hammond and urged him to face down his critics. We reported yesterday that Leave Means Leave chief Richard Tice had called on the chancellor to stand down, and he has now been joined by Leave.EU boss and one of the ‘Bad Boys of Brexit’ Arron Banks, who last night launched his own campaign to oust the EU friendly chancellor.
However, he certainly appears to still have a loyal supporter in the form of Ms. Soubry, who said:
‘I am fully supporting the government by welcoming Philip Hammond’s approach to Brexit”.
Mr. Hammond said last week that in his opinion ‘very little will change’ on the scheduled exit day in April 2019 and it could take ‘at least another three years’ before our exit from the EU is complete.
Ms. Soubry has long been a champion of the ‘remainer’ cause but her intervention highlights yet again the huge splits that still remain among Tories over the issue and in the manner of our departure.
