Remoaners Promise ‘Autumn of Discontent’ With Series of Marches & Protests
Anti Brexit group The People’s March have launched a major protest in London on September 9th, with 120,000 marchers expected, as part of an ‘autumn of discontent’ in which they are promising to bring ‘chaos’ to towns and cities around the country. March organisers said that they are confident that Brexit can now be blocked and that they want to bring ‘misery to the nation’ to make it happen.
The so-called ‘War on Brexit’ will be unleashed this Autumn as ‘thousands’ are promising to take cities hostage and hold expensive rallies.
Refusing to accept the referendum result, and the democratic will of Britons, those behind the march have insisted they will disrupt Britain’s divorce from Brussels.
Kaz Llewellyn, People’s March organiser, said:
‘We have to apply relentless pressure on the government from all angles to make them listen.
‘We will be marching on the streets, lobbying with white papers, and creating strong local awareness.
‘The campaign will show that the ‘will of the people’ is changing and that remaining in the European Union is still definitely still on the table.’
‘Remain movement is turning up the pressure! With planned series of marches throughout the UK, petitions, white papers, and community campaigns the Remainers are getting serious about Brexit and forming an active resistance.
‘From soft to hard-core Remain, from ordinary citizens to MPs, the anti-Brexit movement has one common goal – No Brexit.
‘The anti-Brexit movement is unifying and forming active grass roots resistance to Brexit. Is this the beginning of the war on Brexit.’
The first People’s March is planned for September 9 in London.
Organisers have claimed there will be more than 120,000 attendees – which, if true – will cost tens of thousands of pounds to police.
Marches will also be held in Manchester, Bournemouth, Brighton and in Brussels and Luxembourg.
Street parties and boat parties are also being organised in an attempt to stop the split – although it is not made clear how such events will achieve that aim.
Negotiations between the Brexit teams are well under way in Brussels, with David Davis MP and Michel Barnier being selected as leaders on each side.
However, since solid agreements are yet to come forward, politicians and supporters have said the talks are ‘failing’.
Paul Andrew James Dunne from UKtoStay in EU told supporters:
‘We cannot build Britain’s future on leave lies and economic self-harm. As reality bites, the public is entitled to change its mind on Brexit. Enough is enough: we must keep on making the fact-based case for the UK to stay in the EU.’
Chris Hoffman from EU in Brum said:
‘As the Brexit talks are proving to be utterly shambolic and all pre-referendum promises of paradise have been replaced by wartime-like calls to weather the approaching bad times bravely, it is important to have actions on a national and to show the true will of the people.’
Despite evidence to the contrary the group has claimed people regret Brexit. An email said:
‘Since the election, more and more people are changing their tune on Brexit.
‘Even those that previously campaigned for it are ready to admit that this is not what they hoped for.
‘MPs are ready to stand and fight against the threat Brexit is posing to our futures. But they need to hear the public’s support loudly behind them to boost their resistance to Brexit.
‘With our support, they will fight for common sense in Parliament.
‘Now is the time for each of us to be that change.’
