Do Your Research! Farage Slams Corbyn Over Off-Shore HQ Funding
Nigel Farage has slammed Jeremy Corbyn and The Labour Party after it emerged yesterday that Labour rents its London HQ from a tax-exempt property unit trust. The revelations are contained in the Paradise Papers which allegedly reveal how politicians, celebrities, tech companies and other millionaires use offshore tax havens.
Comrade Corbyn, who is on-record criticising Britons who invest in offshore accounts, was taken to task by Mr. Farage on his LBC show who told his listeners:
Here’s a bit of fun. Maybe Jeremy Corbyn, or somebody in the Labour Party, should’ve done their own research just a little bit better.
Because it turns out on the day of the big criticism of people whose names are exposed in the Paradise Papers, the Labour Party rent their London headquarters – the eighth floor, the south side development, on Victoria street.
It’s estimated they are paying around £1m a year for the rent of that building and guess who they’re paying it to?
They’re paying it to a trust based in Jersey run by Schroder Property Managers, Jersey limited.
So there we are Jeremy. Your party, your Labour Party is directly putting money into the coffers of a Jersey-based property company. Didn’t think about that did you when you stood up at the CBI earlier today?
Mr. Corbyn told the CBI:
Well, anyone who is putting money into tax havens should do two things – not just apologise for it but also recognise what it does to our society.
So, I guess the big question is when can we Comrade Corbyn to make his apology and recognise the harm he is doing to society?
