Anna Soubry: Boris Isn’t “Big & Grown-up” Enough To Be Foreign Secretary
Anna Soubry, Conservative MP for Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, has blasted Boris Johnson, the foreign secretary, saying that he is not “big and grown-up” to do the job.
She has faced criticism for, among much else, saying that she had “fallen out” with Boris and accusing him of lying.
Appearing on ‘The Last Leg’, she said “I think the thing that upset me about it was that he didn’t really say sorry when he had the opportunity in the House of Commons.
“There was this weird way that he said, ‘my words may have been misconstrued’. Well which part of ‘she was training journalists’ do you misconstrued? That was not true.
“The woman was on holiday, that is the whole point of her case. That’s why she is being completely unlawfully, and wrongly she’s innocent.
“It’s really serious actually, I know we are having a lot of fun, that’s what’s upset people.
“He is our foreign secretary, that is why I also fell out with Boris, it’s a serious big grown-up job.
“I thought when he was appointed it was his opportunity to show the could do it, and unfortunately I think he has been found wanting.”
Mr Johnson has come under lots of pressure to resign or apologise after he said that Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe was “training journalists”, which is the exact crime she was accused of. It is thought that the comments have extended her prison sentence by around 5 years.
