Farage To Meet Barnier And Tell Him ‘Get On With It!!’
In what must surely be the best news for Britain’s position in the Brexit negotiations for some time, it was revealed yesterday that Nigel Farage WILL meet Michel Barnier.
Mr Farage revealed news of the meeting to the listeners to his regular Sunday morning slot on LBC. In the meeting, scheduled for early next year, he vowed to make the point to Mr Bariner that there are 17 million people who now “want to get on with this”.
News of Mr Farages meeting comes hot on the heels of Mr Barnier stating that he wants to make a transitional deal with the UK conditional on Britain’s acceptance of new Brussels regulation after March 2019.
Speaking on LBC, Mr Farage said that the fight for Brexit is a fight for national independence and he slammed Mr Barnier for wanting to impose new EU laws on Britain despite the fact that Britain, which will lose all its MEP’s as soon as it leaves in March 2019, will have no say in the formation of the laws at all:
Our good friend, Mr Barnier, he loves this country, he has said that during the transition period, all new EU laws will apply directly to the UK
But, guess what? We won’t be able to be in the room and discuss their formation. It makes you think of ‘no taxation without representation’, doesn’t it?
This is what Theresa May has signed us up for, and when Rees-Mogg challenged her on this, she claimed there was unlikely to be any new EU laws during those two years!
Who would not want to be a fly on the wall at this meeting? Certainly, it will see our interests defended much more strongly than this government has managed during the entire course of the Brexit negotiations.
