YI ELECTIONS: Candidates Announced.
Following on from a meeting between Paul Oakden and the NEC yesterday and an online meeting with the candidates yesterday morning, the candidate list for the position of Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of Young Independence has been finalised.
Nathan Rydings & Jonathan James Wood are duly nominated as candidates for Chairperson.
Reece Coombes & Will Donnelly are running mates for Deputy Chairperson to Nathan and Jonathan respectively and as such are automatically nominated.
Reece Coombes said:
Nate and I – along with the entire YI membership – are delighted that the campaigning period has finally begun! It is very disappointing (but rather telling) that the election has been delayed to this extent but what matters now is that the democratic process is in full swing. I am looking forward to a civil and exciting campaign of optimism, new ideas and co-operation; in tune with how YI will hopefully operate over the coming year. Beginning tomorrow morning, our campaign will be releasing at least 9 endorsements per day and we hope that these will show that our support comes from all ages, factions and ranks within the party.
Will Donnelly said:
We are pleased that the YI elections are now underway after what has seemed to be an age. It is very important that all applicants have been allowed to stand in this election as it will give YI, rather than the Central Party, the opportunity to decide the direction UKIP’s youth movement shall take. We look forward to the upcoming election period which will be full of robust debate and ensure that YI takes the right path.
We now enter the relatively short period of campaigning proper. Kipper Central will be following this election closely so keep your eyes peeled for breaking news.
