Tom Harwood Set To Take On The Lefty, Anti-Semitic NUS in This Weekend’s Election
Tom Harwood, who was elected last year as the NUS Delegate for the University of Durham on a joke platform of destroying ISIS with NUS boycotts and building a giant statue of the NUS President, is once more standing to be his University’s Delegate!
He fought a self-described “ridiculous” campaign because the NUS itself is a “ridiculous organisation”, and won on this platform. Not only did he win, but he won on a turnout that was 300% higher than the previous year.
This year, he is doing the same again! He is now standing on a platform of another range of ridiculous policies, including ending Freddo inflation, making every day a snow day and sweeping agrarian reform. This year’s election video from Tom is once more full of memes and cringey jokes, and it’s even better than last year’s, with 9 more seconds of brilliance.
Speaking exclusively to Kipper Central, Tom said: “I’m standing to give a voice to the vast majority of students who are totally disengaged from the National Union of Students. I want to make the NUS take a step outside of its echo chamber and listen to the vast majority of students it purports to represent.”
Besides the silliness, there is a very serious motivation behind Tom’s bid. He believes that there are serious problems with the lack of student engagement with the NUS, anti-Semitism within the organisation and also with the fact that a number of Universities are choosing to leave the Union because of how ridiculous it is becoming.
The election voting period began today (Friday) and ends on Sunday, so if you are a student at Durham University, make sure to vote for Tom to stand up to the NUS establishment!
