BREAKING: Government LOSES Vote On Brexit Bill Amendment
Theresa May’s government was plunged into a new crisis tonight as it lost its first vote on an amendment to the EU Withdrawal Bill.
The amendment which means a final vote for Parliament will be “legally binding” is seen as a way for the ‘soft Brexit’ Parliamentary majority to ensure that it has the final say on whether a deal is done.
Mrs May had earlier used Prime Ministers Questions to warn MPs not to put a “smooth Brexit” at risk. Dominic Grieve, Former Attorney General and leader of the rebels said:
“The government needs to listen to what’s being said to them. And at the moment, unfortunately, my impression of the last few days, when I’ve been talking to the government, is that it seems to be a bit of a dialogue of the deaf.”
The final vote was 309 to 305.
