Corbyn Event Hit By Protest Over ‘Social Cleansing’
More trouble at the mill for Comrade Corbyn yesterday as his latest event was hit by a one woman protest. Aysen Dennis stormed the stage at a screening of the film Dispossession organised to commemorate six months since the Grenfell Tower fire where the Labour leader was speaking.
In reference to an ongoing controversy involving three Labour councils in London, including Haringey council, Ms Dennis screamed at Mr Corbyn:
You didn’t even condemn those councillors who are socially cleansing us!
Not to be outdone, other hecklers joined in with one at the end of the event asking Mr Corbyn how big his house is. Mr Corbyn has failed to live up to earlier hardline rhetoric on housing saying merely he “hoped” inner city Labour councils would listen to him and give residents a vote on regeneration.
Lambath, Southwark and Haringey, all Labour run councils, are all pushing ahead with controversial regeneration projects against significant resident-led opposition. Mr Corbyn has pointedly refused to directly intervene.
