Bill Etheridge SLAMS May After Latest ‘Backwards’ EU Deal: “Worse Than Primary School Kids”
UKIP MEP for the West Midlands, Bill Etheridge, has hit out at Theresa May’s latest proposed transitional deal with the European Union, which he described as ‘totally unacceptable’.
The deal, which would effectively see Britain keep freedom of movement and virtually all other aspects of our present EU membership for up to five years after we leave.
Mr Etheridge said the new transitional deal is “totally unacceptable” and that the PM will be guilty of “a betrayal of the country” if she signs the deal.
“If she gives into this deal she is showing herself to be a weak leader at best.
“The British people did not vote for the status quo, they voted for independence from a backward-looking economically incompetent political bloc which takes our money and wastes it on vanity projects and schemes detrimental to the best interests of the UK.’
“No wonder Angela Merkel is laughing at the UK team; they’ve done worse than a primary school debating team on its first outing.”
Speaking to the Times, one EU source said: “It is going to take years, at best three, more realistically five”.
However, Brexit Minister David Davis questioned the claims about the rumoured transitional deal lasting five years, saying it simply “isn’t necessary”.
