SILENCED & CENSORED: Labour BAN UKIP Speech On Modern Slavery in Senedd
A Labour AM in the Welsh Assembly (the Senedd) has sparked a huge row after she blocked prominent UKIP AM David Rowlands from giving a speech about immigration at an event she was organising.
The Labour AM claimed that UKIP’s members in the Senedd were peddling “anti-immigrant rubbish” and therefore shouldn’t be allowed to voice their concerns.
The event, which aimed to address modern slavery and find ways to tackle it, was set to have a speech from UKIP’s Mr Rowlands, but Labour AM Joyce Watson said that UKIP was trying to “hijack” her event, despite the fact that she had invited Rowlands to speak.
Mr Rowlands had planned to make a speech referencing immigration, where he would point out that the “shocking” levels of modern slavery are largely due to immigrants enslaving other immigrants, but this was censored by Labour.
In his speech, he was due to say: “The National Crime Agency said that a recent crackdown lifted the lid on the ‘shocking’ scale of modern slavery.
“There are potentially tens of thousands of victims in the UK, and that this is largely a case of exploitation of immigrants by immigrants.”
Rowlands showed Ms Watson his speech prior to the event, and she told him to remove the reference to immigration. When he refused, she banned his speech and censored his views.
Speaking exclusively to Kipper Central, Rowlands said: “Joyce Watson’s decision to gag me is yet another example of the politically correct establishment burying their heads in the sand. It is this kind of refusal to speak the truth, for fear of causing offence that led to the Rotherham scandal.
“The vast majority of this disgusting exploitation is conducted by foreign nationals on immigrants. How can we protect the victims of this inhumane exploitation when we ignore the source of it? I am speaking up for the victims, but Labour wants to silence me. They will not succeed, and I will continue to speak truth to power and call out their dishonest tactics whenever I see it.”
Ms Watson said: “This afternoon, UKIP tried to hijack my Senedd event on modern slavery. They take up enough time in the chamber and assembly committees peddling their anti-immigrant rubbish – they weren’t going to do so at my invitation.”
