UKIP EGM: How Can We Trust Henry Bolton?
Editors Note: The author is Vice Chairman of Yeovil and Taunton Deane UKIP.
In September last year, I attended a leadership husting in Tiverton all candidates spoke it came to Henry Bolton’s turn. He stood up and proceeded to inform us that he had been a tank commander in The Royal Hussars. At a further meeting on 13th December 2017 in Torquay, he repeated his claims. In a UKIP daily article, he now claims to have been a crewman with the 1st Troop “A” Squadron; also he claims to have completed 18 months training as a gunner on a Chieftain tank. None of which makes him a tank commander, the basic unit of a tank regiment is the Troop, consisting of about four tanks and their crews. The Commander of this troop will be a Lieutenant or Second Lieutenant who commands his own tank as well as the rest of the Troop. Henry Bolton by his own admission has only ever been a tank crewman. This is a massaging of his C.V to portray him as an important person. Henry Bolton also claimed during the hustings that he had received T. A. officer cadet training at RMA Sandhurst and that he had been awarded the Sash of Honour. Information from RMA Sandhurst that T.A. training courses at Sandhurst only last a few weeks and no prizes were/ are awarded at the end of the course. For the record, the Sash of Honour was only ever awarded to a female cadet and in no circumstances was it ever given to a male cadet. This is just more manipulation of the truth. I challenge Mr. Bolton to produce his Red service book which gives his true service record; this book is given to all service personnel when they leave the service.
In a letter on party finances, John Bickley questions the information printed in the media. The source of which has come from Henry Bolton, that the party is (inaccurate) losing £20-30,000 a month. This is a serious error of judgment for any senior party officer and party leader, it’s sending a message that the party is in severe decline.
How can he expect the members to trust him with the leadership of the party that brought us our independence day?
Henry Bolton has complained that his private life should remain private and should not be used to remove him from the leadership. He knows all too well that when he took the position he was entering a goldfish bowl and that the media would be watching his every move, that’s why he published a letter to the members when it was revealed of his involvement with Jo Mania. His involvement with her has brought the party into disrepute; he knows that the party is tagged as being racist yet he associates himself with a woman who puts racist remarks out on twitter.
Henry Bolton – The Future?
If Henry Bolton were to remain as UKIP Leader, is he the man that we would want to see leading this party when going into battle at the next local and general elections?
Henry Bolton has made many claims, some of which are considered to be fantasy. With the spotlight not only on his private life but also his perceived lack of leadership would you consider him to be potentially Prime Ministerial material?
UKIP is well known as the party that can be relied on for the truth and will stand up for the issues that the other parties are afraid to touch, and as such we are the party of the people.
If our party is to continue as a credible opposition to the mainstream alternatives, then you should be able to support and endorse the motion of no confidence.
Brexit is the major focus of our country and also of UKIP. There are myriad other issues that also concern us but without the influence of our party, the ruling group will not deliver what the people voted for in the 2016 referendum.
