Time To Go!!! – Batten Blasts May.
Gerard Batten MEP, interim leader of UKIP has rounded on Theresa May calling the leaked proposals for the so-called ‘transition period’ “Brexit betrayal at its contemptible worse”. The draft text of the document ‘for discussion’ says the length of the period should be:
determined simply by how long it will take to prepare and implement the new processes and new systems that will underpin the future partnership
Number 10 was forced to backtrack throughout the day yesterday insisting that Britain will leave the EU fully be the end of 2020. However, there was an angry backlash from Conservative Brexiteers including Jacob Rees-Mogg who called the document a ‘perversion of democracy’.
However, it was Mr Batten who was most forthright in his response. He said:
“It’s time for May to go and for a genuine Brexiteer to step-up for role of Prime Minister. Ive warned that closet Remainers such as May will delay and impede Brexit. This is barefaced treachery and cannot be allowed to stand.
Once again we have seen how the lack of political pressure on the government leads to the backsliding and betrayal of Brexit.
