Nigel Farage Warns Theresa May – End Mixed Messages Or You Wont Be Taken Seriously
Nigel Farage, speaking on Question Time last night called for Theresa May to “end the mixed messages” or face “not being taken seriously” by the European Union. Mr Farage was speaking in advance of a much-trailed address by Mrs May today at Mansion House in London.
He was responding to the first questioner who asked if the government has wasted the proceeding 616 days as we begin the countdown to the expiration of Article 50 in March next year. Mr Farage said that they had indeed been wasted “in some ways”. It has been, he said, “all a bit contradictory”. He praised Mrs May’s Lancaster House speech for saying the things he has been saying which he has been saying without being called “mad” or an “extremist”.
However, he argued, the Florence speech rowed back on this early stridency. It is “difficult” for Mrs May, he said, with Remoaning Tories snapping at her heels. In today’s speech, however, he said that she must put a counter to the proposals put forward by Michale Barnier and that she should demand that Britain is no longer “treated like a hostage” and is “treated with some respect”. If this doesn’t happen “we will say no deal is better than a bad deal and we will walk away”. If she does not do this then the EU will not, in Mr Farages opinion take her seriously.
