LABOUR MP: “Brexit Is “**** Icing On The **** Cake”
The Labour Party is barely bothering to conceal its contempt for Brexit anymore. Witness the astonishing tirade of Labour MP for Wirral South, Alison McGovern. Speaking on the Progressive Britain podcast, produced by the centrist/Blairite ‘Progress‘ wing of the Labour Party, she blamed the problems experienced by many working class and often solidly Labour-voting northern communities on ‘de-industrialisation’. She said:
The Tories in the 1990s did a lot to diminish the state, and actually what kicked off all of that? The ERM (European Exchange Rate Mechanism) and mishandling of the European issue led them to the path of 1990’s public services austerity which then builds in this deep resentment and I would argue the same on the place of towns. If you look at the problems that certain places in the north have, it’s because of de-industrialisation started by Thatcher.
And Brexit is just like, if I’m allowed to use this terminology, the s*** cherry on the s*** icing on the s*** cake that the Tories baked us all in the 1980s.
So, still no admission of the massive problems caused by mass immigration on Labour’s watch then and its unstinting support for the madness of open borders? Will Labour ever learn? I, for one, suspect not, at least not until it is hit where it really hurts, in the ballot box.
