In the matter of ‘Free Speech’ I am in total agreement, and always will be. In the matter of the dog and Mr Meechan, my suggestion is that he grows up, and engages with common sense. This ‘trick’ is not wanted by this Party. The over reaction by the Authorities, is also over the top for stupidity ! Not a good day for any of us !

I agree. I’m sure this has nothing to do with UKIP, though. I think that this fellow is or at least was an SNP supporter. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t support him at least in the limited context of this misjudged conviction.

The law is truly an ass. I find the present vogue of punishing people for expressing their opinion is alien to our principles and has no place in a free society. And I seem to remember this adage from my childhood: Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me. So why are we getting upset about something so pathetic and stupid? Better to have the police and legislature focus on real crime, like mass rape which is happening across the country. Or is that too much to ask?

While the point of training a pug to raise it’s leg in a Nazi salute might be amusing, it is a bit silly. However, the response from the Airdree Sheriffs Court is more reminiscent of the people’s courts in revolutionary France. We await the verdict! Will it be the guillotine & the cheering crowds?
    Over the top or what?

I would have though muslim thugs and imams calling for their following to behead Christians and anyone else who found Alex the akbar objectionable would be considered more guilty of hate speech than some idiot comedian with a trained dog!
