WATCH: Exclusive Interview With Gerard Batten On UKIP, Brexit, The Media & More!
On Tuesday night in Gloucester, UKIP Interim Leader Gerard Batten gave his first major speech to UKIP members since the EGM last month. Before the public meeting, I had the pleasure of meeting Gerard and we sat down for a quick interview about the news of the last few weeks.
Gerard was very keen to make absolutely clear that the party is not going to fold over the £175,000 legal bill and that there are plans in place to deal with it. In fact, he proudly confirmed that UKIP is ‘in the black’, meaning we are roughly breaking even!
Interestingly, the Interim Leader was also quick to point out that he has had very little time to actually work on politics; most of his time so far has been spent on “firefighting” as a result of the mess left behind by former leader Henry Bolton.
Hitting out on the government for betraying British fishermen and doing everything to water down Brexit, Gerard pulled no punches when attacking Theresa May’s Conservative party.
In another particularly interesting answer, Gerard explained why he simply does not trust the Mainstream Media and why he believes UKIP should be moving into new technologies like social media to get our message out to the people.
