WATCH: Sadiq Khan Call For Celebration To Mark ‘End Of UKIP’
London Mayor, Sadiq Khan, responding to a question from David Kurten, a UKIP AM, said that maybe there should be a day to celebrate when “UKIP is abolished”. Mr Kurten was pressing Mr Khan on whether any plans were being made to mark the day when Britain officially leaves the EU next March. He pointed out that more people voted to Leave, 1.6 million, than voted for Mr Khan as Mayor, 1.1 million.
Scrabbling for a real reply, however, Mr Khan referred to the current demand being made on UKIP to pay the legal costs in the Jane Collins case and said that he looked forward to “seeing which Party” Mr Kurten represented at the next Mayors Question Time.
Mr Kurten confirmed that he would be representing UKIP until 2020 and continued to press Mr Khan on whether the EU flag outside City Hall would continue to fly after Britain has left the EU. In reply, Mr Khan would not give a definite answer, merely confirming it would continue to fly until next March.
