I have been in the Party for about 10 years & was a past Chair of the Devizes Branch; presently RO for the South West (North); a member of the NEC since February; Chair of the NEC Tech Sub Committee and more recently accepted the post of Acting Director of Communications.
My fields of expertise are Risk & Governance as well as Project Management of Business Transformation and IT.
I contested the 2010 election in the Devizes Constituency – against she who think Brexiteers are Jihadis – but if you pinned Blue Rosette on a pig in Devizes it would still get elected.
In 2015 I contested the North Wiltshire seat gaining a very creditable 12% of the poll and coming third. Wiltshire is definitely Tory shire territory but we are making ground.
I have also contested local elections and intend to do so again at the next opportunity.
Since joining the NEC I have overseen the redesign and building of the new Web Site (soon to go live) , put in place a Social Media Management group to ensure that what goes out on our official social media is on message, spelled properly and grammatically correct. I have also managed our GDPR compliance – a thorn in the side for us all but necessary
I have also organised the recent Media Training Day at Northampton and hope to organise more in the future.
I am presently involved in organising Media training and Helpdesk for Conference.
I do not see the NEC as a stepping stone to a political post – I know that as a Director of UKIP Ltd (as are all NEC members) I am responsible for the smooth running of the party in line with our constitution and the requirements of the Electoral Commission, Companies House and HMRC – I am content to be doing the “grunt work” in the background – you won’t find my face in many of the party photos 😊
I believe that my contribution has been useful and if you want me to continue shoring up our Governance and building and expanding our communications then please re-elect me to the NEC.
