WORLD CUP FALLOUT: FIFA Investigate England Fans For Anti-IRA Chant
Quite astonishingly, FIFA is to investigate England fans for chanting during their 2-1 defeat at the hands of Croatia in the Semi-Finals of the World Cup.
It received a report a report via its anti-discrimination monitoring system and an investigation has been launched. The Daily Express reports that the investigation could have been triggered by chants of ‘No Surrender’, an anti-IRA chant.
FIFA said in a statement:
“We can confirm that a report has been filed through the anti-discrimination monitoring system in relation to chants of a possible discriminatory nature by English fans at yesterday’s match.

The FA has already been slapped with a £53,000 fine after the England players’ SOCKS worn during the 2-0 quarter-final win over Sweden broke FIFA rules. How an anti-IRA chant is discriminatory chant has yet to be explained by FIFA.
