BREAKING: David Coburn MEP to Run for Leader

David Coburn, a UKIP MEP and the leader of UKIP Scotland has announced he is to run for the leadership.

He announced his decision on Twitter saying he was running against “Entryists, Dilentantes” and “single issue loonies”

It is hard not to interpret the last comment as a coded attack on Anne Marie Waters who has already announced her candidacy and Mr Coburn earlier attacked John Rees Evans, again on Twitter, for not “being keen to run in the General Election like the rest of us”.

It is to be hoped that while this leadership election causes some much needed robust debate within the Party that it will be conducted in a fashion that is becoming of a serious contest.
