Waters Tackles ‘Single Issue’ Taunts With New Campaign Video
Leading UKIP leadership contender Anne Marie Waters (pictured above) has hit back at critics who claim she is a single-issue anti-Islam candidate, with a slick new video outlining her vision for Britain. Her understated delivery is set against a backdrop of patriotic images, with the stirring soundtrack of Jupiter from Gustav Holst’s planet suite in the background, which also led to the hymn I Vow To Thee My Country. Waters barely mentions Islam in the four minute video, other than in a short section about prioritising the rights of Britons. She concentrates on themes of civil liberty, about putting British citizens first and on ensuring a strong Brexit. Waters talks about using Brexit to help return national sovereignty to the other countries of Europe, so that ‘Italy is Italian, France is French and Holland is Dutch’. She also talks about protecting the NHS and of restoring UKIP to its former glories. Waters certainly has a very different style and approach to Nigel Farage, but she doesn’t lack presentation skills, hers are just different. Her ‘soft focus’ style of delivery is no-nonsense and straight to the point and her political opponents will need to come up with stronger arguments than simply dismissing her as a single issue candidate that will destroy the party. On the evidence of this video (shown below) she is definitely a real contender for the top job, but the jury is still out on whether that would be a good or a bad thing for the long term future of UKIP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oia3YXWMXPk Westmonster Dave is the editor of alt-politics.com
