UKIP Leadership Sensation As ALL 11 Candidates Approved In STV Contest

After weeks of speculation the National Executive Committee (NEC) of UKIP have just announced that all eleven candidates that were validly nominated for the forthcoming leadership contest have past vetting by an external independent panel and now go forward to the membership ballot with the results announced at our conference at the end of September.

Some members of the NEC had been pushing for the election to be held using the Single Transferable Vote and this has now been accepted and approved by all the candidates. This means that members will vote 1, 2, 3 in order of preference and this will totally change the dynamic of the contest as candidates will have to canvass for second and third preferences. You could say that all bets are now off!!

There had been speculation that Anne Marie Waters and David Kurten may be excluded from the contest due to controversial statements made about Islam and LGBT issues respectively but this has not proved to be the case. So, the names to go on the ballot paper will be:-

Marion MASON

Anne Marie WATERS
