Former Leading Bishop Nazir-Ali To Speak at UKIP Conference
UKIP Interim Leader Steve Crowther has announced that the former Bishop of Rochester the Right Reverend Michael Nazir-Ali (pictured above) will be the special guest speaker at the UKIP Autumn Conference in Torquay at the end of this month. Mr. Nazir-Ali was the Bishop of Rochester from 1994-2009 and is now the head of the Oxford Centre for Training, Research, Advocacy and Dialogue (OXTRAD).
The Bishop was born in Pakistan to a mixed Christian and Muslim family and has been a strong advocate of engagement between Christianity and Islam. He has also been a strong opponent of multiculturalism and has written a number of books including the 2012 Bloomsbury release: Triple Jeopardy For The West: Aggressive Secularism, Radical Islamism and Multiculturalism.
The appearance of the Bishop at a UKIP Conference will be seen as something of a coup for the outgoing Interim Leader Mr. Crowther and should stir some interest in the national press.
He is expected to focus some of his speech on the problems with ‘no-go areas’ in the UK.
