Erdogan: No Moderate Islam

You have to give Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan top marks for honesty. Flying in the face of lefty apologists and the liberal media, Mr Erdogan brazenly asserts, truthfully, there is ‘no moderate Islam’.

Turkey, a country that Eurocrats call a ‘strategic partner’, is far from a shining paragon of virtue though despite Mr Erdogan’s remarkable honesty in the above remark. It is, in fact, another example of the West turning a blind eye to the shenanigans of its so-called Islamist friends for no objectively sensible reason.

When not openly aligning himself with Iran, Erdogan is busy trying to whitewash the activities of Islamic terrorist groups. He would get on well with Jeremy Corbyn, a notable Hamas supporter because he views them not as a “terrorist organisation” but a “political party”:

“I don’t see Hamas as a terror organization. Hamas is a political party — it emerged as a political party that appeared as a political party. It is a resistance movement trying to protect its country under occupation.”

Similarly excused is the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, an “ideological organisation” not an “armed group”. In fact, Erdogan sees the very concept of Islamic terrorism as being something that simply doesn’t exist; he protests

“Islam means ‘peace,’ it can’t come with ‘terror’.”

Despite occasionally arresting ISIS members, allegations of links between high-ranking Turkish government officials and ISIS are too numerous to ignore.

In short, Turkey is much like Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in that it is a country whose obviously militant Islamic leanings are totally ignored in deference to some alleged greater good. However, as it is a member of NATO and therefore theoretically we are obliged to defend it against any attack it holds potentially, even more, sway over the British government. Until British governments adopt a foreign policy that isolates Islamist regimes who provide succour for terrorist organisations they cannot be said to be truly putting British lives and the safety of the British people first. It is time to end this corrupt alignment between the Western establishment and Islamists like Erdogan.

Erdogan is a guy, now well practised in riding two horses at the same time. He and his Nation is Islamic, and so accommodation has to be made for Muslim factions. This would be enough for the West to keep him at arms length, but the geographical location of Turkey means that the West wishes to keep him sweet and engaged. He knows that, and no doubt has studied the ways of Tito in Yugoslavia, who made sure that all factions stayed together as one Nation. Tito also made a fine art of playing the Soviet Union off with NATO and the USA, to the benefit of his people.
As for Corbyn, and the fact that one man’s terrorist is another man’s freedom fighter. He takes it to the extreme, so that all terrorists are freedom fighters. This is an interesting, though bent view on life. Thankfully we had Churchill in 1940-45, because if Corbyn had been in charge, we would all be speaking German today !
