‘Not Our MASTERS!’: Bulldog Batten BLASTS MPs After Brexit Sellout
UKIP leader Gerard Batten hit out at MPs in a tweet yesterday, arguing that our elected officials are “representatives of the people, not their masters.”
Sharing a video of anti-Brexit MP David Lammy arguing that Parliament should declare the 2016 EU referendum result ‘void,’ Batten wrote: “Parliament was set up as ‘The General Council of the Realm’, to represent the people.
“When Parliament cannot decide, then the general council of the realm is the people themselves. They decided in the Referendum.
“MPs are the representatives of the people not their masters.”

In the video Gerard had shared, Tottenham MP David Lammy asked a question at Prime Minister’s Questions saying: “Can the government declare this referendum void on the basis of the evidence that we have been provided by the electoral commission?
“And if not, given that this was an advisory referendum, by this parliament, can she bring forward the vote in this parliament to declare this referendum void?”
