Batten Tells Merkel: “German Militarism Caused Two World Wars, Don’t Bring Disaster A Third Time!”
UKIP leader Gerard Batten told German Chancellor Angela Merkel that she is following the paths of previous infamous German leaders by bringing “disaster” to Europe for a third time.
Batten sparked fury in the EU parliament today when he accused the most powerful woman in the world of reviving “German militarism” akin to the forces which caused the two world wars of the 20th century.
Merkel today announced that she wants to see a “real European army”, which infuriated a number of Eurosceptic MEPs, including Gerard Batten who launched into a bitter attack.
The London MEP told Mrs Merkel: “The German people have been very unfortunate in their leaders. Twice already in the last 100 years they have plunged Europe into disaster.
“German militarism caused the First World War which destroyed the nations of Europe and ushered in communism.
“The Second World War brought levels of depravity never seen before in Europe.
“Now you are bringing about disaster for a third time; European political and economic migration is disastrous!”
Batten, who is also the party’s Brexit spokesman, was booed during his speech by pro-EU MEPs, who have been secretly working to build an EU army for several years.
The UKIP leader’s savage speech has already been viewed by tens of thousands of people across social media, with hundreds of comments and shares backing Batten against Merkel and her EU army proposals.
“But worse than that, you have opened up Europe’s borders to untold millions of migrants,” Mr Batten continued.
“Your decision to open Europe’s borders to indiscriminately import millions of people will do untold damage to European societies for generations to come.
“The neverending process of European integration will destroy democratic nation states.
“If Britain had a Prime Minister with any guts or backbone, we would have left long ago! Exit cannot come fast enough!”
