TRIGGER WARNING: Snowflakes Raged Over Non-Halal Pork Served At German Islam Event

BBC News has published an article reporting on the “anger” at pork being served an Islam conference hosted by the German government, despite there being clearly labelled halal dishes available to all Muslim attendees.

The German Interior Ministry has apologised if its food servings meant “individuals felt offended in their religious feelings”, but insisted that its platter of food had been designed for the “diverse religious attendance” at the Berlin conference.

One of the non-halal dishes contained blutwurst sausages, which are made of pork, bacon and pig’s blood – but Muslims are forbidden from eating any food containing pork under Islamic law.

However, there were 13 other dishes, each accounting for various religious and dietary requirements – including halal, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes.

In a statement on Twitter, the German Interior Ministry wrote: “The food selection for the evening event of the DIK took place with a view to the religious-plural composition of the DIK.

“It was on a balanced offer, consisting of a total of 13 different dishes (both halal and vegetarian, as well as dishes with meat and fish), and drinks respected.

“The buffet was clearly excellent and the staff was instructed to be informed on the individual food. Should individual persons still have been offended by their religious feelings, we regret this.”

Outraged at the pork on offer, Twitter user ArjuAhmad wrote: “The German Islam Conference in Berlin was led by Interior Minister Horst Seehofer serving pork sausage. Most of the attendees were Muslims, In Islam, eating pork is forbidden. This is a planned hate crime.”

However, Twitter user VictoriaAmarga took the view that the conference did nothing wrong and that instead, the Muslim population should tolerate German culture. She wrote: “Why apologizing? The conference was in Berlin! Visitors must adapt to the locals.

“If the conference took place in an Islamic country, would you expect them to serve? It is absurd to think that all the world must adapt to the Islamic beliefs.”

Oh piss off will you? No-one was forcing the Muslims in attendance to eat the pork, it was one of a selection of dishes on offer. No outrage, no hate crime, just don’t eat the damned pork then!

In Germany, eating pork is celebrated. Just because you don’t like it, don’t expect to be able to force others to change their ways.
