EXCLUSIVE: UKIP To Decide Peterborough Candidate On January 5th
UKIP will decide its candidate for the expected by-election in Peterborough on January 5th when the NEC will decide whether to endorse the unanimous recommendation of the local Branch that Councillor John Whitby be selected as the UKIP Candidate.
Cllr Whitby tonight received the unanimous support of the Peterborough & North West Cambridgeshire branch at the meeting it held tonight. He is a long-standing Councillor for Fletton & Stanground on Peterborough City Council.
In a speech asking for the branches backing, he said that the expected by-election is a “huge opportunity” for Peterborough to elect a conscientious and committed Brexiteer to represent the city which overwhelmingly voted to Leave in the 2016 Referendum.
Branch members expressed their strong belief that Cllr Whitby is the best person to represent UKIP in the contest that is expected to follow the sentencing of disgraced MP Fiona Onasanya in the New Year for perverting the course of justice.
