SPLASHING THE CASH: Onasanya Accused Of Spending Over 10k Of Taxpayers Money On Hotels
Fiona Onasanya, disgraced Peterborough MP, is at the center of new controversy today as The Sun has carried out an investigation which revealed she claimed 19 times more than her Conservative predecessor, Stewart Jackson.
The Sun acquired its figures from the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (ISPA). IPSA’s records show: “Ms Onasanya made eight £600 claims for hotel stays, according to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, although it is not clear how many nights this was for. Records show nine entries for £450. The smallest was for £150.”
Onasanya racked-up the bill between June 2017 to January. She currently rents a flat. MP’s are limited to claiming £150 per night in hotel expenses.
Last week she was convicted of perverting the course of justice and lost the Labour whip as senior national and local Party figures joined UKIP in calling for her to resign. If she receives any kind of custordial sentence then she will potentially lose her seat and a by-election will then take place.
