WHAT A EURO****: Verhofstadt PRAISES Khan
Sadiq Khan attracted much ire for his EU-themed New Years Eve fireworks display in London. However, unsurprisingly, it won him some friends in Brussels.
On Twitter, the chief Brexit co-ordinator, said that the display, which included superimposing the EU flag on the London Eye, sent a “powerful message”:

However, Brexiteers were distinctly unimpressed. David Kurten, UKIP London Assembly member said that Khan has “not got over” losing the Referendum. Andrew Bridgen, Conservative MP for North West Leicestershire, said: “It’s low, it’s very low to politicise what is an international public event. It’s a betrayal of democracy and it’s what we have come to expect from a very poor mayor of London.”
Roger Helmer,a former MEP, tweeted:
While the UK is locked in critical negotiations with Brussels, Sadiq Khan chooses to display the other side’s flag on the London Eye. Would he have shown an Argentinian flag during the Falklands War? https://t.co/d2O0bHbBPn

Neil Hamilton, leader of UKIP in Wales and a Welsh Assembly Member said that Khan was right when he said before the Referendum that if Britain voted for Brexit there is “no going back”:

On the plus side, this time next year, Mr Khan will be facing an imminent re-election battle……
